06/29 to 07/06, 2009 I’ve been away from the blog for a while, so here’s a summary of the past week in a single post. My weight has fluctuated from 194 to 192 between June 28 and July 6. From Monday to Friday, I have gotten into the habit of walking at least two miles during my weekday lunch hours; doing the single dumbbell weight workout on Tuesday and Thursday; and going for a 4 or 5 mile bike ride after work (weather permitting). If it’s raining, I use my stationary bike. During weekends, I sort of play it by ear, but definitely try to at least get in a decent bike ride. Having said that, I took July 4th off; and on Sunday the 5th I spent 3 hours pushing my lawnmower and pruning some trees with a hand saw, at the end of which I was pretty tired. Yesterday was a gorgeous day for a change, so I took a longer bike ride, but at a leisurely pace.
06/28/09 194 pounds. Rained all day, sometimes quite hard, and I wasn’t feeling motivated. So, I took today off.
06/27/09 193 pounds. I hit a personal milestone this morning: I had to take my belt in one notch to hold up my pants! It may seem silly, but I will take my victories where I can. I did 15 minutes on the stationary bike early, spent most of the day helping at my church’s yard sale, and did another 15 minutes in the evening.
06/26/09 193 pounds. OK, this is like a roller-coaster or something, although I suppose it could be worse. Got in a brisk two mile walk on my lunch hour. I got home a little late, as I usually do on Fridays, so I contented myself with the earlier walk.
06/25/09 194 pounds. I didn’t have a chance to do much on my lunch hour, and the weather was kind of mixed, so it was back to the stationary bike for 20 minutes and then the dumbbell workout at home.
06/24/09 193 pounds. What a great day! The sun finally came back out and it felt great. I did a two miler on the Rail Trail at lunch, and went for a four mile bike ride when I got home in the evening. I have also been keeping a eye on my snacking, by using portion control versus deprivation.
06/23/09 194 pounds. What a surprise-it rained again today. Maybe I should think about swimming laps-in my driveway! I managed to get to the half-mile marker on the Rail Trail on my lunch hour before it started to pour, for a one mile round trip, and I spent 20 minutes on my stationary bike in the evening.
06/23/09 194 pounds. I went for a two mile walk between showers today. I had a bad afternoon at work, and went for a four mile bike ride to unwind when I got home, even though it was raining. I think that I really need to buy some fenders for my bike!
06/22/09 195 pounds. I went for a fast two mile walk at lunch, and did a dumbbell workout at home in the evening. It wasn’t raining today but it was drizzling and the humidity was pretty close to 100%. Ugh.
06/21/09 194 pounds. Well at least I’m going in the right direction again! I rode about a mile, round trip, to church today. I was thinking about going for a longer ride, but the weather turned cold, wet, and miserable again. So I did 20 minutes on the stationary bike. I also did two sets of 20 each of sit-ups and push-ups, which seemed to confuse my cats.
06/20/09 195 pounds. I got my yard sale Gitane 10 speed on the road today and had a nice, if muggy, four mile ride. It was a completely different, much easier riding experience from my old L.L. Bean mountain bike.
06/19/09 196 pounds. It rained about four inches today, so I did not get any outside time today. I got home kind of late, so I didn’t get any exercise then, either. I suppose a day off now and then isn’t the end of the world.
06/18/09 195 pounds. Cool and overcast, and I’m getting into a rut. I went for a two mile walk on my lunch hour. I didn’t get home until rather late, so that’s all I got in today.
6/17/09 195 pounds. This was the second sunny day in a row. I may have to get out the ol’ sunblock!I took a brisk 2 mile walk at lunch today, and I’m going for a 3 mile bike ride when I get home. I also found a routine on menshealth.com that I’m going to incorporate titled “1 Dumbell, 650 Muscles”. I didn’t know I had that many!
06/16/09 195 pounds. Finally, the sun came out today! I took a brisk two mile trip on the Rail Trail. After work, I pushed the lawn mower around my yard for an hour and fifteen minutes. It might not be glamorous, but I’m claiming it. LOL.
06/15/09 197 pounds. Cool and drizzly at lunchtime, but I still managed to get in two miles on a walk along the Rail Trail today.
06/14/09 196 pounds. It rained again, all day long. At least we had one sunny day out of the last eight. I’m tired of the stationary bike, so I put in two miles at a moderate pace on my treadmill. I’m not getting too excited by the one pound loss, as that could just be a daily fluctuation.
06/13/09 197 pounds. I was busy all day, so I ended up using the stationary bike again, as I watched the evening news. I did 30 minutes on it. Maybe I ought to hook up a generator between it and the TV!
06/12/09 197 pounds. I did 20 minutes on my stationary bike as I watched the morning news. On my lunch hour, I got to the half mile marker on the Rail Trail when the skies opened up. So, I headed back and only got a mile in today. At least I got a free shower!
